BioArts Science Bonanza at MassArt - ISBA

The Department of Integrative Sciences and Biological Arts (ISBA) at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) is planning the third BioArts Science Bonanza. The programming is planned to take place in the Design and Media (DMC) atrium at MassArt on May 7th, 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. In this event, students will be able to "explore various forms of public engagement/outreach and collaboration centered around the intersections of Art + Science + Nature"(Professor Saúl Nava). ​The event is set to showcase a BioArts Pop-up Exhibition of works from students, faculty, librarians, and staff across Mass Art. The free event that is open to the public is also set to include interactive Art+Science activities and presentations that are facilitated by faculty, collaborators, students, and even high-school art students involved with BioArts.

Interested in a medical-focused competition? UCLA GMB Science and Medicine might be the right fit for you! In collaboration with AlgoEd, the competition will include medical and science-related questions that cultivate student academic engagement through rounds of testing and an eventual final round in front of a judging panel. The Pathway Initiative Inc. (TPI), a non-profit community-based organization, remains dedicated to providing high-quality and affordable STEM programs to the youth. In 2025, TPI is providing a workshop for BPS Middle School Students for $795. The 7-day program would provide students with opportunities to explore interests in computer science, bioengineering, robotics, mathematics, and much more. Over the course of the week, middle school students will learn fundamental coding and programming skills, explore electrical engineering through robotics kits, and apply mechanical engineering concepts to build their own robots in a DIY engineering challenge.

Girls in STEM Summit (GiSS) will be held at Harvard University on April 5, 2025, in collaboration with the Harvard Graduate Women in Science and Engineering. The GiSS is a day-long event for middle school girls to participate in hands-on workshops and hear from female experts in the STEM field, including Harvard professors, grad students, and more! The goal of the conference is to spark interest in STEM subjects and provide role models for young girls. To learn more about the summit, click the link attached to the name.

The Challenge asks students to write a 1,000-word narrative review paper grounded in academic research that provides one answer to the question: How can intersecting ideas from different academic disciplines improve our understanding of the brain?
